Job Description / Responsibility
  • Job Summary:
  • ARAB Ship Breaking & Recycling Limited isseeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Facility Coordinator (FCO) to lead and supervise the safe ship demolition operations at our facility as well as oversee and manage facility operations in compliance with national and international regulations. The ideal candidate will ensure effective coordination of ship recycling processes, maintain documentation, and liaise with relevant stakeholders.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Acting as the Head of Safe Ship Demolition Processes, overseeing all technical, operational, and safety-related aspects of vessel dismantling.
  • Collect all required ship documents, plans, and declarations from the ship’s seller via local agents, the master, or directly from the seller.
  • Arrange and attend management review meetings.
  • Identify and integrate statutory and regulatory requirements into facility operations.
  • Organize and conduct employee training programs.
  • Evaluate health and safety risks and ensure their regular review. ➢ Monitoring and managing all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) issues on-site to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Approve and manage documentation as necessary.
  • Assess and review management programs and operational objectives.
  • Coordinating with various departments (engineering, operations, safety, environmental) to facilitate seamless workflow and compliance.
  • Liaising directly with the top management and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and classification societies, to ensure adherence to statutory regulations and industry best practices.
  • Oversee facility operations in alignment with local and international regulations.
  • Ensure the implementation and regular review of Ship Recycling Plans (SRPs), Integrated Management Systems (IMS), and Ship Recycling Facility Plan (SRFP).
  • Manage all national and international correspondences related to regulatory and classification body requirements.
  • Supervise infrastructure, technology use, and ship-specific reports (e.g., SRP, EMP).
  • Maintain a strict chain of command within the facility.
  • Coordinate visits and communication with national and international delegates.
  • Conduct and oversee audits for:
  • ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System)
  • ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System)
  • ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health & Safety)
  • ISO 30000:2009 (Ship Recycling Management)
  • HKC-2009 (Hong Kong Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships)

Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science (BSc)
  • Bachelor of Maritime Science (Honors) in Maritime Engineering (Preferred: Bangladesh Marine Academy)
Additional Job Requirements
  • Key Skills:
  • Exceptional communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and perform under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Additional Requirements:
  • Familiarity with regulatory audits and Ship Recycling Facility Plans (SRFP).
  • Additional certifications in fire safety, first aid, emergency preparedness, confined space entry, and hazard communication will be considered a significant advantage. • Willingness to engage with national/international delegates and maintain strict operational protocols.
  • Experience: The ideal candidate should have prior experience serving on foreign-going vessels (as officer or engineer) or have worked in shipbuilding or ship repair industries.
  • Preferred Attributes:
  • A proactive and safety-conscious mindset with the ability to implement and enforce strict safety protocols.
  • Experience working in or with HKC-compliant ship recycling yards will be considered a strong asset.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English; proficiency in local language(s) is desirable. Technical Expertise:
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO standards (9001:2015, 14001:2015, 45001:2018, 30000:2009).
  • Must possess valid and recognized NEBOSH (International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety) certification or an equivalent safety qualification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and documentation management systems.
  • Strong understanding of international regulations, including Hong Kong Convention (HKC-2009) and Basel Convention guidelines for ship recycling, is preferable
