Job Description / Responsibility
- Market Exploration & Scouting
- Conduct extensive market visits across Dhaka, Chittagong, Gazipur, and other sourcing hubs to identify new and innovative materials, components, and accessories.
- Track emerging local trends, indigenous materials, and technical innovations relevant to export footwear design.
- New Vendor Development
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard local suppliers for materials such as leather, textiles, soles, heels, trims, chemical sheets, and specialized footwear components.
- Perform initial assessments on quality, capacity, compliance, and commercial viability before vendor engagement.
- Internal Stakeholder Collaboration
- Act as the key liaison between local vendors and the Design Lab/Product Development teams.
- Supply samples, cost sheets, and technical inputs to support rapid prototyping and sampling needs.
- Facilitate custom development of local components as required by the design team.
- Negotiation & Costing
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and MOQs with local suppliers to maintain competitive costing for export markets.
- Support the creation of cost benchmarks for locally sourced alternatives.
- Supply Chain Resilience & Localization
- Develop a diversified and reliable local supply base to reduce dependency on imports and minimize lead time risks.
- Support strategic initiatives for local value addition aligned with Apex’s export competitiveness agenda.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain systematic records of market visits, vendor data, material samples, costing sheets, and sourcing evaluations.
- Prepare periodic sourcing updates, opportunity assessments, and performance dashboards for SCM leadership.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BSc)
- Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)
- Bachelor of Arts (BA)
- Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS)
- PGD-SCM
Experience Requirements
- 5 to 10 years
- The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Manufacturing (FMCG), Retail Store, Tannery/Footwear, Wholesale
