Operator - Sub-Station & Water System (Utility)
Advanced Chemical Industries PLC (ACI)
Job Description / Responsibility
  • Sub-Station & Utility Infrastructure Management
  • Manage and execute preventive maintenance (PM) and diagnostic testing for high-voltage assets (e.g., Transformers, Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, and Protective Relays).
  • Act as the first responder for electrical faults, power quality issues, or sub-station alarms to minimize facility downtime and ensure grid stability.
  • Maintain rigorous maintenance logs and update equipment history within the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) or ERP.
  • System Reliability & Operational Integrity
  • Monitor system performance parameters (voltage stability, power factor, hydraulic pressure, and flow rates) and take immediate corrective action when deviations occur.
  • Oversee the accuracy of water quality data, ensuring all filtration and treatment processes meet defined purity, pH, and conductivity standards.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for utility interruptions or water quality excursions and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Infrastructure Projects & System Commissioning
  • Plan and execute utility projects, such as the integration of SCADA upgrades, commissioning of new water pumps, or the validation of secondary power sources.
  • Coordinate with OEMs, utility providers, and specialized contractors for technical installations, transformer oil testing, and high-voltage servicing.
  • Ensure all utility projects are completed within budget, meet engineering safety standards, and align with local electrical codes and environmental regulations.
  • Consumables & Critical Spares Management
  • Track inventory for critical spares (fuses, contactors, seals), water treatment chemicals, and filtration media, requesting replenishment to avoid operational delays.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of hazardous chemicals (e.g., chlorine, acids) and specialized high-voltage safety gear (hot sticks, arc-flash suits).
  • Safety, Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
  • Enforce strict adherence to OSHA, NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety), and environmental water discharge standards during all operational activities.
  • Lead safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry permits, and the management of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for water treatment.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for regulatory inspections or utility audits by providing maintenance logs, water quality reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Technical Leadership & Coordination
  • Coordinate with Production and Facility Management to prioritize utility loads and water supply based on plant demand and peak hours.
  • Mentor and train Junior Operators on complex switching procedures, SCADA interfaces, and water chemistry protocols to ensure team competency
