Job Description / Responsibility

A Medical Technologist (Endoscopy) assists doctors and nurses during endoscopic procedures (such as gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and other minimally invasive diagnostic procedures). Their responsibilities typically include:
To prepare and set up endoscopy equipment and procedure rooms.
To check that endoscopes and accessories are functioning properly.
To ensure all necessary instruments, supplies, and medications are available.
To verify patient information and assist with patient preparation as directed by clinical staff.
To assist physicians and nurses during endoscopic examinations and treatments.
To operate and handle endoscopy equipment and video systems.
To pass instruments and accessories to the physician when needed.
To monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot minor technical issues.
To clean, disinfect, and sterilize endoscopes and related equipment according to established guidelines.
To dispose of medical waste safely.
To restock supplies and prepare the room for the next patient. .
To follow infection control and safety protocols.
To perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of endoscopy equipment.
To report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs.
To maintain inventory of endoscopic instruments and supplies.
To maintain accurate records and logs.
To assist with scheduling and patient flow in the endoscopy unit.
Executing any other duties assigned by the authority.

Educational Requirements

Diploma in Medical Technology

Additional Job Requirements

Basic computer and documentation skills.
