General Manager - Import & Export (Commercial)

Job Description / Responsibility
- Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise all Import & Export commercial operations.
- Ensure timely opening, amendment, and settlement of Import L/Cs and Back-to-Back L/Cs.
- Manage export documentation, including EXP, Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Certificate of Origin, GSP, and other shipping documents.
- Coordinate with Bangladesh Bank, Customs, Bond Commissionerate, BGMEA, EPB, Shipping Lines, Freight Forwarders, C&F Agents, and commercial banks.
- Ensure compliance with Bangladesh import-export policies, customs regulations, bonded warehouse rules, and international trade requirements.
- Monitor customs clearance, shipment schedules, and logistics to avoid delays and additional costs.
- Supervise bond license management, UD utilization, customs audits, and regulatory reporting.
- Maintain strong relationships with buyers, suppliers, banks, and government authorities.
- Prepare commercial reports, MIS, and management presentations.
- Lead and develop the commercial team to achieve organizational objectives.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)
- Masters
- Master`s degree or Bachelor`s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
- Professional certifications in International Trade, Customs, or Commercial Management will be considered an advantage.
Experience Requirements
- 15 to 20 years
- The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Garments
Additional Job Requirements
- Strong knowledge of Import & Export regulations, Customs Act, Bonded Warehouse Management, BGMEA, EPB, and Bangladesh Bank policies.
- Expertise in LC operations, UCP 600, INCOTERMS, international shipping, trade finance, and customs clearance.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight shipment deadlines.
- Experience
- Minimum 15–20 years of relevant experience in Commercial (Import & Export) operations within a reputed 100% Export-Oriented Knit Garments.
- At least 8–10 years of experience in a senior leadership position (GM/DGM/Head of Commercial).
