This role requires specialized knowledge of knit garment construction, fabric characteristics, and knitting/dyeing production processes, combined with strong buyer management and commercial skills.
- Key Responsibilities

- Translate buyer briefs, mood boards, and design specifications into technically sound development requests to knitting factories and fabric mills.
- Develop and manage detailed Critical Path / Time & Action calendars; monitor all milestones — fabric approval, lab dips, garment samples, PP, and bulk — to ensure on-time delivery.
- Source and specify fabrics (cotton, polyester, viscose, modal, spandex blends, recycled fibres) in consultation with buyers; manage fabric approval, colour matching, and lab dip processes.
- Coordinate all knit sampling stages: proto samples, fit samples, salesman samples, pre-production samples, and top-of-production samples.
- Lead costing discussions with factories and fabric mills; negotiate FOB pricing, ensuring alignment with buyer cost targets while maintaining commercial viability.
- Provide detailed technical feedback on construction, fabric composition, GSM, stitch type, and finishing in coordination with QC and factory technical teams.
- Monitor bulk knitting, dyeing, and finishing production schedules; proactively identify and resolve capacity, quality, or material delays.
- Manage all buyer communications including sending approvals, production status reports, shipment updates, and responding to technical queries promptly.
- Review and sign off on all pre-production material approvals: fabric dye lots, bulk swatch, trim cards, labels, and packaging specifications.
- Maintain complete style records, approval logs, test reports, and shipment documentation for each order.
- Ensure compliance with buyer-specific testing protocols, fibre content labelling laws, and sustainability requirements applicable to knitwear.
- Support development of new knit supplier relationships and contribute to category expansion strategies.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Textile Technology, Apparel Merchandising, Fashion Design, or a closely related field.
- Specialized training or certification in knit garment production or fabric management is a significant advantage.

- In-depth knowledge of knit fabric construction methods including single jersey, rib, interlock, pique, fleece, and terry.
- Strong understanding of fabric types, fibre compositions, GSM, yarn counts, and their impact on garment performance and quality.
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex fabric specifications, construction details, and graded measurements to factory technical teams.
