Job Description / Responsibility
  • Position: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) & Company Secretary
  • Department: Finance & Accounts
  • Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
  • Job Purpose: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) & Company Secretary is responsible for providing strategic financial leadership, ensuring sound financial management, maintaining effective governance, and ensuring compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and corporate requirements. The role oversees financial planning, budgeting, accounting, treasury, taxation, risk management, internal controls, corporate governance, Board affairs, and secretarial functions to support sustainable organizational growth.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • A. Financial Leadership
  • Develop and implement the organization's financial strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Advise Management and the Board on financial performance, business risks, and investment decisions.
  • Lead long-term financial planning and resource allocation.
  • Ensure financial sustainability and operational efficiency.
  • B. Financial Planning & Budgeting
  • Oversee accounting operations and ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement.
  • Monitor budget utilization and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct financial analysis, scenario planning, and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Prepare periodic management reports and financial dashboards.
  • C. Accounting & Financial Reporting
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Maintain robust accounting systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure month-end and year-end closing activities are completed efficiently.
  • Present financial reports to Management and the Board.
  • D. Treasury & Cash Management
  • Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital.
  • Oversee banking relationships and financing arrangements.
  • Monitor investments and fund utilization.
  • Ensure effective treasury controls and cash management practices.
  • E. Taxation & Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee tax planning and timely submission of statutory returns.
  • Liaise with tax authorities, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with financial reporting and statutory obligations.
  • F. Internal Control & Risk Management
  • Establish and maintain effective internal control systems.
  • Identify financial and operational risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Strengthen governance and compliance frameworks.
  • Monitor implementation of audit recommendations.
  • G. Audit Management
  • Coordinate internal and external audits.
  • Ensure timely resolution of audit observations.
  • Facilitate audit committee activities.
  • Maintain audit readiness throughout the organization.
  • H. Corporate Governance & Company Secretarial Functions
  • Serve as Company Secretary to the Board and Board Committees.
  • Arrange Board, Committee, and Shareholders' meetings.
  • Prepare agendas, notices, minutes, and Board papers.
  • Ensure compliance with the Companies Act, corporate governance guidelines, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain statutory registers, records, and corporate documents.
  • Ensure timely filing of statutory returns and regulatory disclosures.
  • Advise the Board on governance matters, legal obligations, and regulatory developments.
  • I. Policy Development
  • Develop and periodically review financial, procurement, investment, delegation of authority, and governance policies.
  • Recommend policy improvements in line with regulatory requirements and organizational objectives.
  • J. Stakeholder Management
  • Maintain effective relationships with banks, auditors, regulators, donors, investors, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization in financial and governance-related matters.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Budget variance management.
  • Cash flow and liquidity management.
  • Regulatory and statutory compliance.
  • Successful completion of internal and external audits.
  • Implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Board meeting effectiveness and governance compliance.
  • Cost optimization initiatives.
  • Risk mitigation effectiveness.
  • Team performance and capability development.

Educational Requirements
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Accounting, Finance
  • Master of Commerce (MCom) in Accounting, Finance
  • Master's degree in Accounting or Finance from a reputable university.
  • Must be a qualified Chartered Accountant, preferably an FCA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA.

  • At least 15 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Audit Firms /Tax Consultant, Banks, Financial Consultants, Group of Companies, Insurance, NGO

  • Age At most 55 years
  • Additional Requirements:
  • Skills Required: Accounting and Finance, Cost Accounting, Auditing, Data Analysis, Experience in using Accounts Software, In-depth knowledge of local Income Tax and VAT laws·
  • At least 15 years of experience, with at least 5 years in CFO roles.
  • Strong financial forecasting and analytical skills.
  • Expertise in bank reconciliation, bookkeeping, and cash flow management.
  • Experience in budgeting and risk management.
  • Proven leadership and management skills.
  • Confidence in presenting financial results to stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to work with top management to organize, plan, and achieve the organization’s financial goals.
