Job Description / Responsibility

Initiate and manage legal actions against defaulting clients, including drafting and filing suits, monitoring proceedings, and supporting recovery efforts
Represent the Bank in civil and criminal matters before subordinate courts and the High Court Division; coordinate with external legal counsel and attend hearings as required
Vet and draft legal documents such as contracts, deeds, agreements, written statements, bank guarantees, and legal notices
Liaise with external law chambers, courts, and government/non-government authorities to support litigation and regulatory processes, supervise panel lawyers and ensure timely, effective legal action in pending cases
Provide legal opinions and guidance to branches and departments on regulatory, compliance, and contractual matters
Ensure compliance with applicable laws and respond to inquiries from Bangladesh Bank
Conduct legal research and risk assessment to support compliance and minimize legal exposure
Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of legal proceedings, court decisions, and case status updates to Management and Regulator
Perform any other legal responsibilities assigned by the competent authority in the interest of the Bank

Educational Requirements

Additional Job Requirements

Age At most 45 years
Minimum LL.B. degree from any recognized university with no Third Division/Class. LL.M. and Bar-at-Law will be perceived as added advantage
Minimum 3 years of banking experience including minimum 2 years’ experience in a legal team of a bank or financial institution
Enrollment with the Bangladesh Bar Council will be given preference
Strong knowledge of Banking Laws, NI Act., Artha Rin Adalat and other relevant legislations
Excellent legal drafting, communication, and analytical skills
Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office Applications and data management in Excel and other platforms with analytical skills
